چکیده

| The wideband code-division multiple access (CDMA) concept (FMA2) developed in the European FRAMES AC090 project supports variable data rate transmission. The data rate can be altered by changing either the spreading factor or by using multiple spreading codes in parallel. In order to facilitate exible changing of data rate, orthogonal Walsh codes are used for channel separation, followed by scrambling code. Optional short scrambling codes can be used if interference suppression is used. In this paper the downlink performance of the FMA2 system using both conventional RAKE and LMMSE-RAKE receivers is studied. According to the numerical results, the performance of the conventional RAKE receivers is insuucient at lowest spreading factors, whereas the the LMMSE-RAKE performs well regardless of the spreading factor. Hence, the nal speciication for ETSI-group proposal should facilitate interference suppression also in the downlink, and not only for the up-link due to relatively bad performance of the conventional RAKE receiver at high data rates.

Theoretical Performance Analysis of Downlink Site Diversity in an MC-CDMA Cellular System

The downlink (base-to-mobile) bit error rate (BER) performance for a mobile user with relatively weak received signal in a multicarrier-CDMA (MC-CDMA) cellular system can be improved by utilizing the site diversity reception. With joint use of MMSE-based frequency domain equalization (FDE) and antenna diversity combining, the site diversity operation will increase the downlink capacity. In this...

Improved Bit Error Probability Estimation for DS-CDMA Downlink Equalizer-based Receivers with Small Spreading Factors

This paper provides insight into the statistical distribution of the interference at the output of receivers composed of a chip-rate linear transverse equalizer followed by a despreader for the downlink of direct-sequence code-division multiple access (DS-CDMA) systems with long scrambling sequences. It is shown that for small spreading factors, the probability density function (PDF) of the int...

A New and Exact Analysis of DS-CDMA Cellular Radio System Based on the Physical Interpretation of Nakagami Wideband Channel

In this paper we present the performance of two uplink/downlink DS-CDMA receivers in a Nakagami wideband channel. Two detection methods were considered; namely, coherent and differential detection RAKE receivers based on maximal ratio combining technique. We consider a new physical interpretation of the Nakagami channel and the instantaneous power of the multiple access interferers. In comparis...

Bit Error Performance for Asynchronous Ds Cdma Systems Over Multipath Rayleigh Fading Channels (RESEARCH NOTE)

In recent years, there has been considerable interest in the use of CDMA in mobile communications. Bit error rate is one of the most important parameters in the evaluation of CDMA systems. In this paper, we develop a technique to find an accurate approximation to the probability of bit error for asynchronous direct–sequence code division multiple–access (DS/CDMA) systems by modeling the multipl...
